Give Me Your Guest Post Yearning to Breathe Free

ID-100223483A belated “Welcome to 2014” from Luke1428! And for you Chinese zodiac fans out there, welcome to “the year of the horse.” I trust your holidays were filled with many blessings and you are looking forward to the upcoming new year.

I’m sure by now you have read countless posts about New Year’s resolutions. Did you make any this year? Perhaps the better question is, have you already broken some of them?

I’ll be honest with you…I haven’t made any yet. That feels weird for me because I’m all about setting and pursuing big goals. I had a whole host of them I worked towards and discussed all of last year on this blog.

Despite my lack-of-resolution status, I have determined that 2014 will be a year of letting go for me.

I speak of this mostly in the spiritual sense, out of a desire to surrender more of my heart and mind to the plans God has for me. He alone knows how my future will unfold. As a follower, I’m called to place my trust in His plan for my life.

As I was reminded through the comments of my blogging friends Matt and John when I wrote on Monday about my victories and disappointments of 2013, we are only able to control a fraction of what happens around us. Most life events we don’t see coming. Better to plan and focus around what we can have a say in and not worry over things we cannot control.

The Letting Go Begins Now

For letting-go-starters, I’m loosening my grip on the writing monopoly I’ve had on this blog. I’m officially welcoming Kim Fourman (Mrs. Luke1428) to the fold. She has written here before but now will be sharing her insights routinely, once or twice a month. Her specialty is taxes but somehow I have the feeling she’s not going to limit her writing to only that.

You can connect with her on Twitter here.

I have also decided that this blog will be open for guests to contribute articles. Guest posting is a great way to showcase your work and gain exposure from another blog audience. I’m pleased to offer you this growing platform to share your ideas with the personal finance community.

I’ve laid out my guest posting guidelines here so please review them if you are interested. I would appreciate you helping me get the word out by sharing this post.

I have enjoyed my recent down time but am looking forward to getting back to my normal blogging routine this coming Monday. To officially kick off the New Year, I’ll be talking about the unforeseen downside to pursuing goals. I haven’t seen this discussed much but it’s a true and present reality that we overlook. I’ll be sharing some personal things Kim and I had to give up as we rearranged our lives for her to pursue her career dreams.  I’m sure you won’t want to miss it.

Until then, have a great weekend!

What was your big New Year’s resolution? Have you broken it yet? Is there any topic you would like Kim or myself to write about during 2014?

  1. I’m excited to hear more from the Mrs.!

  2. Love that Kim will have a monthly presence on Luke 1428! I’m still working on my 2014 goals but I’m looking forward to another great year. Have a great weekend, Brian!

  3. Looking forward to hearing more from your wife! My favorite blogs are those where both spouses are heard regularly.

Glad to see your wife coming on board – (That sounds bad, but you get my point 🙂 ). My wife is such a better writer than me that I’m always glad to have her write for the site. I don’t really do resolutions, but am doing pretty good, overall, with the few goals I have for the year. Have a great weekend Brian!

  5. How exciting! I haven’t made any resolutions, but I don’t tend to make them. I’d rather focus on my usual monthly goals. I have a few things in mind that I would like to have happen this year, but that’s about it. I hear you on wanting to stop worrying over things not in our control. I need to work on that as well!

  6. Sounds like a plan– but definitely not a resolution. 😉

  7. Laurie @thefrugalfarmer says

Glad to hear Kim will be joining the writing staff permanently, Brian!! It’ll be awesome to hear her CPA wisdom. 🙂 Our 2014 goal is to continue onward and upward with our journey to debt free. 🙂
