10 Can’t Miss Warren Buffett Quotes On Life and Money

warren buffett quotes on lifeWhere do you seek out sound advice?

Your parents?

Friends at work?

A counselor or pastor?

The Bible or other religious literature?

As I see it, the problem with a lot of advice is threefold:

  • It’s not actually helpful…
  • It’s given by someone who has a damaging, personal life issue that clouds their bias and…
  • It’s coming from a person who has an alternative agenda (i.e. they are driving you to a decision that benefits them)

This makes it extremely hard to find advice that you can run with. Put the wrong advice in your head and hands and the results could be disastrous.

When it comes to money, perhaps no businessmen and investor has achieved more in his lifetime than Warren Buffett. From humble beginnings of selling chewing gum, Coca-Cola and magazines door-to-door as a kid, he has become one of the wealthiest men in the world. People pay money to sit at his feet for a few minutes so they can pick his brain about life and money.

So when I ran across some Warren Buffett quotes on life and money awhile ago, I couldn’t help but pause and reflect on how I felt about a few of them.

  1. Great quotations! I especially love the one about what matters most. We cannot lose sight of that.

  2. I love number five because it is so easy for us to hide online behind the veil our blogs and social media. Nevertheless, those that are truly great people and hardworking people will not hide, they will shine and their efforts will prove genuine to others.

  3. #1 speaks to me. I’ve gotta have lots of income streams to sleep well at night.

  4. I’m glad I stopped by, Brian. Number 3 has to be my favorite. Early on in my quest for financial independence I was heavily influenced by David Bach’s books, especially “The Automatic Millionaire”. When you fund your savings directly from your paycheck, you don’t miss what you don’t see.

  5. My favorites are 6, 8, 9 and 10. #9 is the one I am working on. I am definitely not a yes-man (or woman), but there are so many great opportunities on areas that I feel passionate about and it has been hard at times to say “no”. There was also a period where I spread myself too thin because I said “yes” too often and learned the hard way that I couldn’t say “yes” to every opportunity or request.

    • #9 is really hard. Like you said there are so many worthwhile things to do. Other times though I’ve got sucked into saying “yes” too often out of fear of disappointing people. There is a reason the word “no” is in the dictionary…sometimes we just have to use it. 🙂

  6. Warren Buffett is a great source of financial advice. I tend to avoid advice from random people because sometimes its just not true!

  7. Brian Bullock says

I like all the quotes listed (especially 2 and 3). I think one of my favorites of Buffett is: “There seems to be some perverse human characteristic that likes to make easy things difficult.” I see this every day. People making mountains out of molehills. Making things too difficult. Buffett is great.

    • “…make easy things difficult.” Haha…I love that quote Brian! It’s so true. If you ever figure out the secret to why we make easy things difficult let me know. 🙂

  8. I only get to pick one? So many good ones. 1,2,3 and 10 are my favorite.
